FACELIFT
- Reasons to have this surgery:
- As a result of the loss of elasticity and volume, as well as the impact of damaging sun rays and the forces of gravity, the skin of the human face, neck and the anatomy of the human face and neck undergo major changes as we age. Patients are particularly uncomfortable with the imbalance between their visual age and how old they feel on the inside. Patients feel they look old prematurely and are suffering emotionally.
- The surgical technique:
- Today, numerous advances in the technique of treatment put us in a position to modify the face and neck in a natural manner with sustainable results. We now know that the secret is not only in tightening the skin, but also to return the structures below the surface of the skin to their original positions. We use the acronym SMAS (superficial, muscular apo-neurotic system) to describe this structure. It refers to a stable, tissue-like muscular membrane which transitions into the so-called platysma on the neck. In modern facelift technology, these structures are relocated and fixated. Not only do we return the soft tissue to its former position, but also lessen the tension on the skin level. Preparation that is gentle on the tissue, cautious stanching of the blood and the use of a fibrin clotting agent makes it possible to perform this work without drainages and bandages while ensuring accelerated healing.
-
We differentiate between the following 4 types of facelifts (all performed utilizing the SMAS technique):
-
- - Upper / center / bottom facelift: temples, cheeks, neck
- - Center / bottom facelift: cheeks, neck
- - Mini lift: cheeks only
- - Necklift
- Procedure:
- The procedure takes anywhere from 2-3 hours and can be performed either under local anaesthesia while the patient is in a state of half sleep or under full anaesthesia. An overnight stay at the clinic is required. After 2 days, the patient is allowed to wash her/his hair. The stitches in front of the ears are removed one week after surgery, those behind the ears 2 weeks after the procedure.
-
- Before every surgical intervention there will be a detailed and individual consultation.
