RHINOPLASTY
- Reasons to have this surgery:
- Typically, congenital malformations of bony or cartilaginous nasal skeletons lead to deformities on the inside or outside of the nose. Patients either suffer from visible (protruding, wide, long nose) or functional discomforts (nasal breathing impediment).
- The surgical technique:
- In most cases, necessary alterations to the bone and cartilage structure can be performed through invisible incisions to the inside of the nose. Few cases of large-scale alterations require a fine, inconspicuous incision to the nose bridge. In a detailed preliminary talk, the patient's ideas and wishes are discussed in-depth and are partially simulated on the computer.
- Procedure:
- The procedure lasts around 1 hour and is normally performed under general anesthetic. After the procedure, the patient remains under supervision at the clinic for 1 night. A skin-colored plastic splint must be worn for 1 to 2 weeks afterwards. The final examination is conducted after 12 weeks.
